Healthy Eating
Cafeteria - One establishment where we implemented our innovative behavioural change techniques was Teras Cafe, Bangor, North Wales. They came to us with a problem - students were not purchasing any healthy food. The cafeteria constantly observed higher sales for snacks, such as crisps and chocolate, over healthier alternative, fruit.
Through working closely with the cafeteria, we developed an intervention to alter the purchasing behaviour of customers towards a more positive behaviour, purchasing fruit over snacks. Sales data was collected for over 6 weeks and analysed. It was discovered that the intervention increased fruit purchasing by 137.14%. This is a clear demonstration of the significant impact of behaviour change research.
Supermarket - A similar 'healthy eating' project, to the cafeteria one above, was performed in a small supermarket located in Bangor, North Wales. The supermarket had a similar issue where their sales of fruit were drastically declining. However, through extensive work and behavioural analysis the sales of fruit increased by 99.6%. Through applying the simple three step method - Observe, Implement and Analyses - and behavioural chaneg expertise we made a huge impact on the sales of this supermarket.
